The team behindCyberpunk 2077have released a full set of patch notes regarding every change coming to the anticipated Update 2.3. Among the update notes are a plethora of new features, from new vehicles, photo mode adjustments, and several gameplay fixes. Although I appreciate all the great quality-of-life improvements, there’s one aspect of the game that I wish had also been improved with this large update.
Among theconfirmed additions and features in Update 2.3areseveral refinements to traveling and questswithin Night City. New taxi systems and AutoDrive allow you to relax while moving from place to place without having to manually drive across a large world map. This kind of change for player convenience is prevalent in the update, but this philosophy falls short when it comes to player expression.

Cyberpunk 2077 Still Needs More V Customization
Lack Of Options Make For Bland Characters
Unfortunately, there are little to no deep customization options for a player’s V characterwhen starting a new game, even after Update 2.3. Ever since its initial controversial launch, V has only had a limited number of features present to alter their appearance, something that players have definitely noticed as the game has grown. Even after the largePhantom Libertyexpansion greatly improved the game, V’s look still lacked many custom settings.
One of the biggest complaints regarding V’s customization settings is that players have to rely on presets for every visual feature. Unlike other RPG titles, you can’t fine tune any of V’s features, preventing you from going into too much detail when making a character you’ll see for countless hours.

Thelimitations of V’s characteristics extend to the character’s body type, which only has a few presets to choose from. you’re able to’t have an overly muscular or heavyset V, making each character have an extremely similar type of build even if you adjust many other features. This has always been disappointing to me, and it’s a shame more options were not added in Update 2.3.
While V customization doesn’t impact anyCyberpunk 2077gameplay mechanics, the personalization of an RPG character is integral to the experience. You’ll be hearing and seeing this character for possibly over 100 hours, so it should be a character as personalized as possible. This game has opportunities to make customization great too, by adding more options for showing cybernetic enhancements, sci-fi body attachments, and more.

Extra Hairstyles & More Might Not Come Until Cyberpunk’s Sequel
The Next Game Might Give Players Better Customization Depth
With thesequel toCyberpunk 2077already announced to be in pre-production,players might have to wait for extra customization optionsfor their main character. Hopefully, CD Projekt Red will listen to player feedback, improving upon the game just as they did with past updates. For example, they could see how a shockingly low number of hairstyle options for a female V was just one of many complaints regarding the creation system.
Cyberpunk 2is stated to be using Unreal Engine 5, which could provide much greater graphic detail for the game. This could improve the quality of the main character’s visuals, encouraging the developers to add more customization options.

It is unclear whether more updates like 2.3 will come in the future, but the lack of V customization in this recent patch bodes poorly. While there could be an update that addresses the bare-bones creation system, it is unlikelygiven how long the game has been out at this point.
Despite the slight expansions to the character creator in Update 2.2, the core focus of the game doesn’t seem to want V to be too customizable. These player options may not ever exist with the amount of depth I want inCyberpunk 2077, but a sequel might add far more options for players to create a far more personalized main character.
