When you talk over the “ raw ” space opera house , one name comes up pretty often : that of Alastair Reynolds , whose Blue Remembered Earth is issue forth out next month in the U.S. But inan question over at Publisher ’s Weekly , Reynolds says he ’s less and less happy with that ticket :
Q : Do you adopt the space opera recording label ?
AR : from time to time , but more and more often I ’m getting aweary of it . It imposes a lot of expectations which are as often as not are not go to be play . Just because a book has space traveling and other worlds in it does n’t make it space opera house , but you ’d be forgiven for think the opposite judgement from some of the reviews and commentary in the line of business .
