There are four new horses that have been added toDead Rails. They are theApocalypsevariants:War,Death,Famine, andPestilence. Each of them comes with aspecial abilityand is veryhard to find. We will examine each one below, listing their stats, locations, and exploring what each is best suited for.
War Horse of the Apocalypse
TheWar Horse, also calledWar, is anApocalypticvariant of the regularhorseinDead Rails. It has a magma hide and spawns between the10km and 20km mark, accompanied byfive Fire Zombiesand theCovenant Knight. While ridden, it sets all nearbyhostileentitieson firebut does not ignite items or friendly entities. Its saddle is aunique golden typethat cannot be removed or used on other horses.Horse carts cannot be attachedto any apocalyptic horse variant.
Death Horse of the Apocalypse
The Death Horse, also known asDeath, is anApocalypticvariant of thehorseinDead Rails. It appears in the wild between the 30km and 40km mark, ridden by aCovenant Knightand surrounded byfour Werewolves. This all-white horse with blue eyes and a golden saddle grants theAngel’s Tears effect to allnearby players, even after its death. The effect provides strong regeneration, allowing players to withstand heavy damage. Like allApocalypse Horses, itsgolden saddleis permanent and exclusive, with no known use beyond its unique appearance.
Famine Horse of the Apocalypse
The Famine Horse, orFamine, is an electrified grayApocalyptichorse variant inDead Rails. It spawns between the50km and 60km mark, ridden by aCovenant Knightand accompanied byfour Werewolves. While being ridden, itgenerates lightningif an enemy pursues the player. Like otherApocalypse Horses, it features a permanent golden saddle that cannot be removed or used elsewhere. As of version 2885, a likely bug causesFamineto be killed by its ownlightning strikes.
Pestilence Horse of the Apocalypse
The Pestilence Horse, orPestilence, is a zombifiedApocalyptichorse variant inDead Rails. It appears in the wild between the70km and 80km mark, ridden by aCovenant Knightand guarded by apack of Werewolves. While active, itresurrects nearby dead enemies, making it especially useful for raiding theOutlaws’ Town. This ability israreand shared only with a few otherentities, like theJade MaskandNecromancer. As with allApocalypse Horses, it comes with a permanentgolden saddlethat cannot be removed or used on other horses.
Unicorn
Unicornshave a1% chanceto replaceregular horseswhen spawning, including those ridden by Outlaws. They can be sold for$250 alive or $150 dead, making them valuable but rare. Obtaining aUnicornis required to complete certainEaster Egg challengesand earn aBadge. Players can increase their chances by searchinghorse groups, taming them in enclosed spaces, or stealing one from anOutlaw, though this risks theUnicorn’s death.
Horse
Horsesspawn across the map, usually in groups oftwo to six, and can also appear withOutlawsandZombie Soldiersas mounts. Horses are skittish and flee from players, but players can tame them by placing a saddle, which lets them travel faster and pull horse carts for extra storage. Although tamed horses provide great value, hostile entities often target them, and they do not regenerate health.Capturingwild horses iseasierinenclosed areasor by herding them toward structures. Players should keep multiple horses on standby for backup. They can store horses by welding them to the train. Although players can ride horses without a saddle, controlling them becomes significantly more challenging.
