South American Dota is growing again!
It all started in 2020, when the young LEVIATAN began their journey into esports. The Argentinian team quickly became a South American powerhouse, dominating the VCT 2022 LATAM Stage (something akin to the DPC, for Dota fans reading).
Despite theirsuccess in Riot’s FPS game, their new team isn’t a LoL roster. With little information available, they posted a video announcing the LEVIATAN Dota 2 Team without names yet, but with a date pointing to March 18.
What are the LEVIATAN Dota 2 roster options?
The organization will compete with names like Beastcoast, BOOM Esports, and Heroic, which have already locked rosters. However, they are not limited to forming a full South American team. But first, let’s take a quick look at the unsigned stacks and their chances to be signed:

As exciting as it is to see a new team, the LEVIATAN Dota 2 roster will face some fierce challenges. Invitations to international events are scarce, most announced tournaments' qualifiers are already over, and there’s always only one slot for SA qualifiers. Furthermore, no team has proven to be a challenge for Heroic and BOOM Esports, the two teams constantly facing each other in Grand Finals.
Some South American players are already opting to play outside their region due to the slim chances of securing that one slot. This is the case for names like Matthew, a former Evil Geniuses player competing in MENA with Nigma Galaxy, Wu (Mjz) playing for Blacklist International in SEA, and many others like Thiolicor (Shopify Rebellion) and Lelis (Nouns).
LEVIATAN Dota 2 roster debut
Coinciding with their announcement, the South American Open Qualifiers #2 for DreamLeague S23 are set to start on the same date, March 18. Interestingly, the Estar_Backs roster isn’t playing in the Open Qualifiers #1 (happening today, March 17). Just a thought.
