Bandai Namco’s back catalog is full of fantastic RPGs, and one of the most popular might be getting a remaster soon. The publisher hasn’t been shy about revisiting past titles in recent years, bringing back games in classic franchises ranging fromKatamaritoPac-Man World.Bandai Namco has also kept up the pace of re-releasingTales ofgames, which are comfort food classics for plenty of JRPG fans.

Xuser Lowedelta shared an alleged screenshot of a Bandai Namco Europelive stream thumbnail with characters fromTales of Xillia, as reported byPush Square. The thumbnail shows an in-game character skit with a new font, suggesting the planned announcement of aTales of Xilliaremaster. Tales Of Xillia Might Get A Remaster Soon

The Iconic PS3 Outing Deserves It

One claimed screenshot isn’t complete proof of a game’s existence, so it’s worth maintaining some skepticism about the existence of aTales of Xilliaremaster. All the same, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise.Tales of Xilliais one of the more popular gamesin theTales offranchise, and it’s beenstuck on the PS3until now. The same goes for the sequel, which could very well be included in a remaster package.

The officialTales of SeriesX account teased asummer announcement of the next remasterback in June, so aTales of Xilliaannouncement in the coming week would fit the bill. Even if the leak turns out to be incorrect,Tales offans should be able to expect some big news soon.

Tales of Xilliamight not quite rivalSymphonia,Abyss, orVesperia— although some fans would place it as a favorite — but it’s certainly not one of the worstTalesgames. Despite some pacing issues, its story can be charming, andthe sequel delivers some of the best combatin the franchise. A lot of JRPG franchises struggled on the PS3, soXilliaultimately stands out as one of the most iconic of the era.

Tales Of Remasters Have Been A Mixed Bag

Stick With The Original Symphonia

Remastering games is a tricky business, andTales ofremasters have been a bit unreliable. Infamously,Tales of Symphonia’s various re-releaseshave all featured problems that weren’t present in thegreat GameCube original. The most recent version,Tales of Symphonia Remastered, still runs at a lower frame rate than the GameCube version and features some unpleasantly smudgy texture upscaling.

TheTales of Graces Fremaster avoidedSymphonia’smajor problems, so hopefully, aTales of Xilliaremaster will repeat this success. The game still occupies a large place in the hearts of many fans, andBandai Namcohas the opportunity to deliver some nostalgia and invite a new generation of players to the experience.
