Indie open-world survival titleCraftopiawas revealed during today’s ID@Xbox livestream show to be making its debut on Xbox consoles, as well as joining the Xbox Game Pass lineup along withseveral other indie titles.Craftopia, which was previously released for PC via Steam in late 2020, is developed by Japan-based company Pocket Pair Inc.
The trailer for the Xbox version ofCraftopiarevealed multiple gameplay elements, including the ability to battle monsters, capture and raise pets, and pilot a variety of vehicles, including several capable of flight. However, viewers of the ID@Xbox show noticed one thing in particular: the indie title’s similarity to another open world title,The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Craftopia’sart style drew many comparisons toBreath of the Wild,as it features a sprawling open world with rolling hills, vast plains, and dense forests. In particular, the title seems to take place in a post-crisis world where the ruins of society and the remnants of ancient technology are slowly reclaimed by nature. This brings to mind the post-Calamity Hyrule of the latest main seriesLegend of Zeldatitle. EvenCraftopia’splayer character looks rather likeBreath of the Wild’sLink with blonde hair, a trusty sword and shield, and a blue default outfit reminiscent of the Champion’s Tunic.
Other fans refer to the game as a hybrid ofBreath of the WildandMinecraft, citing its focus on raising pets and piloting vehicles as well as crafting useful items.Breath of the Wilddoesn’ttechnicallylet players fly using anything other than Link’s glider, after all, although one fan managed to take to the skies byriding a Guardian. It definitely seems thatCraftopiadraws inspiration from multiple games and genres rather than a single title.
Craftopiais currently available for PC via Steam. It will be released for Xbox consoles and Xbox Game Pass later this year.
