I feel like every day I’m searching for the next great RPG like thePersonaseries. Its blend of school and life-sim elements with horror-focused narratives that delve deep into mature and often somber topics, as well as engrossing creature-collecting turn-based combat, is one-of-a-kind and has rarely been replicated. That’s a shame, as I really believe the world would be better off if there were more games likePersonaout there.

That’s especially true considering we’re stuck waiting forPersona 6and left with nothing new to play other than thecontroversialPersonaspin-off game. Fortunately, after a considerable wait,we’re finally getting a brand-new RPG that is heavily inspired by thePersonaseries, which includes several of the aforementioned elements that make it so compelling. The best part is that this game is releasing very soon.

Demonschool Is Inspired By Persona

It Is An RPG Life-Sim Experience

Demonschoolis an upcoming RPG by developer Necrosoft Games. It was announced all the way back in 2022, and we’ve had snippets of gameplay and various announcements made since then. However, it isn’t until now that we’ve had a guaranteed release date locked in. For those unaware,Demonschoolis a veryPersona-inspired RPG, centered around a cast of characters attending a university on a mysterious island that must battle demons in their spare time.

Much like theamazingPersona-like indie RPG,Bloomtown: A Different Story, before it,Demonschoolhas a calendar system, with each day being split into segments during which you may perform one of several tasks. You can bond with classmates, battle those aforementioned demons, and explore the gorgeously detailed world that looks more akin toPersona 2than it does the more recent games.

Honestly, the art direction is incredibly nostalgic, and I’m quite pleased to see a return to that style. As much as I lovePersona 5’sanime aesthetic,Persona 2: Innocent Sin’sisometric world is stunning even today. From its stylish combat with plenty of strategic complexity to its world and character designs,Demonschoolis quickly shaping up to be one of thebest indie RPGs available, and there’s even aSteamdemo for those who aren’t quite sold yet.

Demonschool Is Finally Out In September

It Has Been Delayed A Few Times

As aforementioned,Demonschoolwas announced back in 2022 and has seen a number of delays since. Fortunately, they’re in the past, as a brand-new release date trailer that was uploaded to the game’s officialYouTubechannel revealed thatDemonschoolis officially launching on June 04, 2025. There’s not long to wait until this incredible-looking RPG finally releases, and I can spend more time with it than just what the demo provides.

If you’re a fan ofPersonaor just looking for acompelling life-sim RPG, then I’d highly recommend checking outDemonschool. It’s launching for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC, so you can play it no matter your preferred platform. I’m personally very excited to sink dozens of hours into yet another RPG likePersona, and I hope you all join me on this somewhat spooky, yet ultimately incredibly stylish adventure.
