Which teams have booked their ticket to Copenhagen for VCT Stage 2 Masters?
Domestic play across the Valorant scene is almost over, eleven of twelve have punched their ticket to Riot Games second international event of the year.VCT Stage 2 Masters: Copenhagensees twelve of the best teams battle one last time before Champions at the end of the year. Esports.gg has compiled the list of all teams who have qualified for VCT Copenhagen.
NA
XSET
XSETare officially the kings of North America after lifting the Challengers 2 trophy. The young and hungry NA side took down the Stage 1 Masters champions OpTic Gaming. This has been a long time coming for XSET, they have consistently been amongst the best in the region and will finally get their chance on the international stage in Copenhagen.
OpTic Gaming
OpTic Gamingwill be vying for their second consecutive international title after lifting Masters: Reykjavik. Replicating their challengers 1 result, OpTic Gaming will be starting their campaign in the group stage. The Masters 1 champs fell to XSET 3-1 in the grand finals.
EMEA
Fnatic
It wouldn’t be a VALORANT international event withoutFnatic. The EMEA side clinched Challengers 2 after a thrilling campaign which saw them steamroll the competition. Depending on who you ask, Fnatic is the favorite to lift the trophy in Copenhagen, they boast some of the best players in the world right now and will be a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs.
FunPlus Phoenix
FunPlus Phoenix will be attending their first international event of the year after missing out on Reykjavik due to reasons out of their control. FPX finished second in the EMEA Challengers 2 playoffs following a 3-0 defeat to Fnatic. According to multiplereports, it seems FPX may have the same restrictions Fnatic faced in Iceland with substitutes likely stepping in.
Guild Esports
It has been a long time coming but GUILD Esports will be competing at a Masters event for the very first time. The EMEA side finished third in the playoffs which were enough to qualify for the event in Copenhagen. Starting in the group stage could prove to be valuable for a roster that is new to international competition.
APAC
Paper Rex
Paper Rexis back for their second consecutive event of 2022. The APAC punched above their weight and put on one of the displays of the tournament by finishing in the top four at Masters 1. This is a side that is not scared to go punch-for-punch with the top regions in the world. During Masters 1, Paper Rex took down DRX, The Guard and G2 Esports who were considered one of, if not, the best team each major region had to offer.
XERXIA Esports
Like Paper Rex, XERXIA Esports has qualified for their second LAN of 2022. The APAC side will be looking to perform better than they did at Masters Reykjavik. XERXIA was eliminated in the group stage with a 1-2 record. Things started off well for XERXIA, they swept OpTic gaming in their opening match but failed to replicate the same performance later in the group stage.
Brazil
LOUD
The Masters 1: Reykjavik finalists LOUD returns to the international stage for the second time this year. LOUD stunned the world earlier this year, reaching the finals of a major international tournament for the first time. It wasn’t a fluke, either, as LOUD took down many major region teams from North America and Europe, including the eventual winners OpTic Gaming to reach the grand final. Although it was a crushing defeat, in the end, LOUD did their country proud and will be looking to replicate their results in Copenhagen.
Korea
DRX
A consistent appearance at international events is DRX, formerly Vision Strikers. The Korean side will be looking to bounce back after what was a disappointing Masters 1 by their standards. Despite topping their group, DRX fell early in the playoffs as they were upset by ZETA Division.
Japan
Northeption
A new challenger enters the fray as Northeption is the newest Japanese side to qualify for an international event. The side has big shoes to fill, ZETA Division was able to miraculously finish in the top three at Masters 1. Northeption has definitely earned the right to compete in Copenhagen, taking down two established sides in Crazy Raccoon and ZETA Division.
LATAM
Leviatán
Following in the footsteps of Northeption, Leviatán is another team that will be making its debut at this international event. Leviatán had to work for it in the LATAM playoffs. After being knocked down into the lower bracket, Leviatán swept their way through the competition, even taking down KRU Esports by a 3-0 score.
LATAM/BR LCQ
KRU Esports
Rounding out the VCT Copenhagen teams,KRU Esportswill be returning to the international stage once again. The LATAM was able to win the LATAM/BR last chance qualifier to book their ticket to Denmark. KRU will be looking to perform better in this international event after being eliminated in the group stage without a single win.
