Despite closing in on its 10th birthday,Fallout 4is rumored to be receiving another update, and it could come alongside a new feature. Last year’s debut of Amazon’sFallouttelevision seriessparked a resurgence for Bethesda’s aging RPG, and led to the title finally being the recipient of a next-gen update.
According to YouTuberJuiceHead(viaThe Phrasemaker),Fallout 4will receive an update to fix bugs and improve performance in the game’s next-gen version. This latest iteration ofFallout 4was released in a fairly rocky state, and has not been improved in the year since its release. It’s said that the alleged update will arrive sometime around the premiere of theFalloutshow’s second season, which is coming in December.

JuiceHead also claims thatpaid mods will be coming toFallout 4in the near future. Such a feature has been controversial for Bethesda games in the past, but paid Creations – Bethesda’s name for officially sanctioned mods – have been a component toSkyrimfor some time. JuiceHead’s claims should be taken with a grain of salt, as they’re not among more consistently reliable leakers, though they do claim to have corroborated the allegedFallout 4update with multiple sources, cite changes to Steam’s database, and did predict a similar update toSkyrimin the past.
Rumored Fallout 4 Update Could Bring Performance & Bug Fixes To Next-Gen Update
A Long Overdue Patch
Shortly after the premiere ofFallout’s TV adaptation,Fallout 4received its next-gen update, aiming to improve the experience on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, while also bringing new features, like ultrawide support, to the PC version. It subsequently suffered from numerous technical issues, including a broken quality mode on Xbox, several new bugs, mod compatibility issues, and problems even updating to the new version of the game.
Modders stepped in to fix the updateas best they could, but it has been left to languish for more than a year at this point. LongtimeFallout 4players have been hoping for news from Bethesda on when (or if)Fallout 4’s next-gen version will be fixed. So far, there has been no official confirmation of anotherFallout 4update, but rumor has it the end of the year could change things.

Official Paid Mod Support May Be Coming To Fallout 4
Player-Made Premium DLC
Creations are Bethesda’s official mod platform, supportingSkyrim,Fallout 4, andStarfield. This suite is essentially what makes console mods possible, as well as provides a pipeline for Bethesda to release official, bite-size content additions. Paid creations are already inSkyrim, and if the rumors are true, they could be coming toFallout 4later this year.
Paid mods were once a controversial topic forSkyrim, but the backlash was largely because its first iteration was undertaken by Steam owner Valve, who was seen as wanting to profit off the work of modders. Originally known as theCreation Club, Bethesda’s Creations have been received far better by modders, who have an official channel provided by the games' publisher to be paid for their work.

Paid mods could conceivably keep theFallout 4modding scene alive by offering creators a chance to profit, but again, nothing has been officially confirmed by Bethesda.Fallout 4andStarfieldcould very well follow in the footstepsSkyrim, but neither has so far had the same level of enduring popularity.
