Most Koei games make it a point to show that riding things ispointless.Dynasty Warriorsand other related titles all include the riding of horses, but the only reward for a player choosing to do so isdeath. Riding a horse is adeath sentence, because anyone who jumps into the saddle will quickly find themselves occupying the same space asa million billion arrows/musket-balls/spear-points. If you want to get somewhere fast in aWarriorsgame, you run and hope to find a “Speed + 30 sec.” power-up.
Hokuto Musou‘s (akaFist of the North Star Musou)newest trailer(visible below) fails to prove my impression of mounted travel wrong. In fact, the character riding a motorcycle is almost immediately knocked off of his ride. Why bother, right?
However, the trailerdoessucceedin showing of many characters with some gory, over-the-top special moves. Like kicking a bunch of dudes so hard that they start to inflate and explode in a shower of blood. Yes, I don’t know how that’s physically possible, but that does not stop it from being awesome.
Also, check out the ad for a premium edition at the very end of the trailer. It comes with a talking alarm clock!
