With less than a week left until the launch ofDays Gone, Sony is kicking its promotional push into high gear. Just recently, the studio released a launch trailer for the game that focuses on thestory of Deacon St. John’s struggle to survivein a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested world. Now, players can share in their excitement for the release of Days Gone with two free PS4 items.
As part of Sony and Sony Bend’s promotion forDays Gone’s release date, the companies are offering a Days Gone PS4 dynamic theme and aDays Goneavatar featuring Deacon. Both items are free to any who visit theDays GonePS4 website and login with their PSN account.
As mentioned, the freeDays GonePS4 avatar features Deacon St. John’s face. Some may recognize Deacon’s voice actor, Sam Witwer, who has a storied career in films, TV, and video games. Up to this point, his most memorable video game role was the voice and motion capture forStarkiller in theForce Unleashedseries, but that may change once gamers see Witwer inDays Gone.
The Days Gone PS4 dynamic theme also features Deacon St. John, only this time he is riding his motorcycle and evading a zombified wolf. While the world of Days Gone is highlighted by the Freaker hordes – large groups of zombie-like humans – there are other, natural elements that Deacon must contend with as well.
With this being a dynamic theme, there is a slight zoom effect that happens when the user switches from the top bar (Friends, Notifications, etc.) to their list of applications. It also has a motion blur effect and some rubble flying off the back ofDeacon St. John’s motorcycle.
On the topic of zombified creatures, Sony is also giving away a zombie bear plush to 20 random entrants. Interested gamers can enter theDays Gonezombie bear plush giveaway on the same hub that they redeemed the PS4 dynamic theme.
