The Ghost in the Electric Blue Suit , out now in the U.S. , is a weird , semi - autobiographic novel in which the fantasy elements are mostly at the margins . And yet , it ’s a queerly haunting ghost story .

The Ghost in the Electric Blue Suit takes station in 1976 , when a college bookman call David decides to go work at a seaside resort in the passably unglamorous townsfolk of Skegness , instead of die home for the summer . The novel ’s ghost story has a fairly pedestrian conclusion and the love trigon ( between David , Terri and a social dancer make Nikki ) variety of peters out . Joyce carefully avoids any kind of tale climax , in fact — but deliver something much more interesting .
