Obsidian continues to expand and robustly support the Early Access release ofGrounded. Now, four months after the sandbox survival game’s launch, Obsidian is releasing its biggest patch forGroundedyet.GroundedEarly Access patch 0.4 is titled The Koi Pond Update and adds, as the name implies, a content-filled new biome underneath the surface of the koi pond.Groundedplayers can discover all manner of new creatures, equipment, materials, and more starting today.
The most exciting new content in each patch is often all of the new creatures and the Koi Pond Update doesn’t disappoint in that regard. There are four new creatures in total to be found in the koi pond, two hostile and two passive. The hostile creatures are the Koi Fish itself, which is big and hungry, and a new Diving Bell Spider, because it wouldn’t beGroundedwithoutspiders hunting players, even underwater. The passive creatures are the adorable, and edible, Tadpole and the Water Boatman.

To better survive and prosper in thekoi pond biome, Obsidian has added a variety of new materials and recipes for players to discover. A new set of Koi Armor is what players may want to try and acquire early, as it’ll enable faster and safer exploration of the pond. There are also Bouyand Foundations to build on the pond’s surface, so that a floating base can be built right where players need it. There’s plenty else to discover in the koi pond’s deeps, so players should start swimming.
Obisidian also had an important message to share alongside the release of today’s Koi Pond Update. The message tells players thatObisidianis going to take a new approach to dropping content. Rather than smaller monthly updates, Obsidian wants to do larger updates which may take longer to finish. With that said, Obisidan assured fans there’s plenty to look forward to, including updates to the Haze, the Sandbox, and toGrounded’s overall story.
