Due to the fact thatDestiny 2managed to havethe biggest console game launch of 2017, it makes sense as to why so many casual and hardcore gaming fans flock to developer Bungie’s science fiction shooter on such a consistent basis. As a matter of fact, it looks as if the famed American film director John Carpenter (Halloween,They Live) even considers himself a Guardian, with the horror icon recently admitting that he is a dedicated player of the game.

Interestingly enough, this much was revealed during an interview held with the British daily newspaperThe Guardian, with Carpenter admitting right out of the gate that he has been occupying his time as of late by playingDestiny2. When asked by the interviewer about the game’s difficulty, the film director responded by saying, “Oh, it is hard. That’s why I’ve dedicated my life to learning how to play it. At my age why not? It keeps me out of trouble.”

As it so happens, this isn’t the first time that Carpenter has discussed video games in the public eye, for in 2013, the director said that he would be interested in making a film version of Electronic Arts and Visceral Games' science fiction survival horror titleDead Space. It was around then that Carpenter also admitted that he “stupidly” purchased a copy of the generally pannedAliens: Colonial Marines.

Taking all of this into account, it’s truly cool that such a revered film director, screenwriter, and composer as John Carpenter still finds the time amid his myriad projects to kick back and try to master all thatDestiny 2has to offer. Of course, he’s not the only celebrity that enjoys the game, with theWWE star The Big Showand myriad others in the entertainment industry being hardcore fans as well. Considering this, it makes one wonder if Carpenter has ever attempted to rope frequent collaborators like the actors Jamie Lee Curtis and Kurt Russell into joining his clan.

Destiny 2is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox one, and it is set to launch on June 03, 2025 for PC.
