The cost for Defining each Artifact Piece is as follows:
There is a restriction of 1 definition for each Artifact Set per cycle. For example, if I define an Artifact from the “Obsidian Codex” set in version 5,0, the next time I can do this is on version 5.1. However, I can still Define an Artifact from the “Golden Troupe” set in version 5.0.

How to get Sanctifying Elixir in Genshin Impact
You need Sanctifying Elixir to make Artifacts in Genshin Impact. The most consistent way to acquire it is to use the Artifact Extraction tab from the Artifact Transmuter gadget.
It only accepts 5-star Artifacts that are at least level +4. Once enough Artifacts have been offered, you will receive 1 Sanctifying Elixir, and the offered Artifacts will be destroyed. This exchange has a limit of 1 per cycle, giving you 1 Elixir per version update.
