The actor marked the milestone on Instagram Wednesday, reflecting onhis April medical emergencyand his recovery journey, especially the support he got from family and fans.
“I consider all of you my family… and thank you to my immediate family, and everybody who chipped in to make sure that I could celebrate on this day,” theOscarwinner added. “I’m sending our complete joy to everybody … Cause if it’s my birthday it’s your birthday.”

Foxxspoke out about his health scarethree months after it occurred, sharing a clip of himself on Instagram thanking fans for their prayers as he recovered from themedical complication that happened April 11while he was in Atlanta filming the movieBack in Action.
“I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back,” he said of his fans' support. “I went through something I thought I would never ever go through.”
The actor said his sisterDeidra Dixonand his daughterCorinne Foxx"saved my life," and also thanked God and the “great medical people” who treated him.
“I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way — and y’all know they kept it airtight, they didn’t let nothin' out. They protected me,” Foxx said at the time. “And that’s what I hope everyone could have in the moments like these.”

Foxx made hisfirst public appearance since the medical emergencylast week, attending the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema & Television: Honoring Black, Latino and AAPI Achievements in Los Angeles on Dec. 4.
“I want to thank everybody. I’ve been through something. I’ve been through some things,” Foxx said as he accepted the Vanguard Award for his performance inThe Burial,adding as he welled up with emotion, “It’s crazy, I couldn’t do that six months ago. I couldn’t actually walk too."
He added, “It feels good to be here. I cherish every single minute now. It’s different. It’s different.”
