What This Means For The Fear Street Franchise

Prom Queen Has The Worst Reviews By Far

One of the movie’s lackluster reviews came fromScreenRant’s Ferdosa Abdi, who gave the movie 6 out of 10 stars. Abdi’s review noted that the film was “entertaining,” but “doesn’t quite meet the bar set by 1994 and 1978.“Other reviews were far more scathing, including fromSlashfilm’s Chris Evangelista, who said “this movie isn’t just bad, it looks bad.” Others found the film to be weakly plotted and at times boring, and many took issue with the characters. As the days go on, it will be interesting to see what the public’s reaction is.

Our Take On The Fear Street: Prom Queen Rotten Tomatoes Score

This Isn’t Great For The Franchise

Fear Street: Prom Queen’s poor reviews don’t bode well for the franchise’s future. R.L. Stein, who wrote the book series on whichFear Streetis based, commented earlier this year thatthere are threeFear Streetmovies in development.IfProm Queenwas included in these three, there are at least two more movies slated for the horror franchise. Hopefully, the negative reviews forFear Street: Prom Queenare just a hiccup, but this will raise some questions about the franchise’s future and how it can improve from here.

On the other hand, it’s still quite possible that audiences will respond better to the movie. This has been the case with many horror movies in general, and the latest installment is no different. Ultimately, viewership will be key forFear Street: Prom Queen, and if it’s satisfactory, Netflix will keep the horror franchise alive.
