Here’s a first look at the new Galactic weapon skins in Overwatch 2.
Blizzard has introduced the Galactic weapon variant! Created for players of the Overwatch 2 Competitive game mode, these new Galactic weapon skins look stellar.

Overwatch 2 Season 15 features a bunch of cosmetics to be excited about earning, and one of them pertains to the Galactic weapon skins for those who enjoy duking it out in the Competitive game mode. This variant appears to be a deep purple color. We can see that the preview of Hanzo’s Storm Bow looks quite sleek. It also has glowing blue accents and even reflects light with a sparkling effect.
During the Overwatch 2 Spotlight event, senior systems designer Gavin Winter talked briefly about these skins, noting that the team wanted the 2025 weapon variant to be “out of this world.”
“For such a big season, it just feels logical to start with a big bang: our galactic weapons,” Winter said. “In response to your feedback about competitive rewards, we worked hard to make this year’s weapon variant out of this world.”
He also shared that the Overwatch 2 team developed new technology to support applying this type of material to weapons. “We want you to feel like you have the power of the stars in the palm of your hand,” Winter said.

These new Galactic weapons werefirst teased on Jan. 31. In a post, Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller acknowledged that some players have been hoping for a weapon skin that looks more premium. He then said that the new weapon variant for 2025 will be “out of this world!”
“Some of you have been hoping for a weapon skin that has a higher end look to it, and we’ve got something for 2025 that is pretty spectacular,“Keller wrote. “So, while Jade [weapon variants] are going away for now, we’ve got an amazing new weapon variant to collect in 2025 that will be out of this world!”
