This upcoming Overwatch 2 patch promises New Junk City and Suravasa reworks.

The next major patch in Overwatch Season 17 arrives soon. Ahead of its release, players can download the update on Battle.net. Read on for the instructions on how to do this plus the details of what to expect in the Overwatch 2 Season 17 mid-season patch notes.

Overwatch 2 Season 17 mid-season release date

This mid-season update is expected to arrive on July 22 at 11 a.m. PT. When we enter the game and visit the current Battle Pass and set of weekly challenges, the indicators there suggest July 22 as the middle of Overwatch 2 Season 17. Updates usually happen on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. PT as well.

To download this particular update ahead of time, sign in to your Battle.net account and head to the Overwatch 2 section. There should be some green text under the “Play” button near the bottom-left corner. Click on it to begin downloading the patch. Once that’s done, the text should change to “Pre-release content downloaded.”

If you already see the “Pre-release content downloaded” text, then it means you’ve previously opted into automatic Overwatch 2 updates. Therefore, the pre-download is already complete.

In terms of what to expect in the mid-season patch, we know that New Junk City and Suravasa are getting reworks.According to Blizzard Entertainment, the goal of this update is to make these two Flashpoint maps easier to navigate and more fun. Meanwhile,OWCavalry on Xreports that the Overwatch 2 x Nerf collaboration may also arrive alongside a Wuyang hero trial.

For those who aren’t up to speed, Wuyang is the game’s next hero. Previously known under the codename “Aqua,” he’s of Chinese descent and a support hero with a unique weapon. Wuyang also uses water in battle.

“I think it’s fitting to give you a sneak peek at Hero 44,” Overwatch 2’s senior narrative designer,Jude Stacey, previously revealed. “Codenamed ‘Aqua,’ this Chinese water wielder has one of the most unique ability sets that we have ever developed.”
