Over those three decades, Mikami has been involved with the creation of a lot of excellent projects, such asGod Hand,Vanquish,The Evil Within, andDino Crisis, but his strongest legacy will forever remain one of the most enduring and genre-defining franchises in gaming history:Resident Evil.

Continuing its series of video interviews with some of gaming’s greatest auteurs,Archipel Caravansat down for an interview with the 55-year-old as he reflects on his 30 years within the industry. In this, the first of a special two-part episode, Mikami discusses his beginnings in the business, his love of the horror genre, his work with Capcom, and how this unholy trinity of interests birthed one of the most successful and indelible brands that players would ever see.
