It’s like a very bloody version of Where’s Waldo
Ostensibly this story trailer forMortal Kombat Xis supposed to set the stage for the latest generation of Earthrealm warriors’ struggle against the forces of Outworld, but we all know what the real hype is about — character reveals!
The trailer stars several descendents of pastMKwarriors we haven’t seen before, including Jax’s daughter, Jacqueline Briggs, Takashi Takeda, the son of Kenshi (no, he isn’t blind), and Kung Lao’s boy, Kung Jin. Along with Cassie Cage, this ragtag group seems to be the core set of good guys for the latest battle.
They’ll be going up against a familiar adversary. Mileena the cannibalistic ninja clone will be rejoining the cast in a much larger role than she has previously enjoyed. Eagle-eyed fans will also spot the return of Shinnok (groan) and Sindel in small blink-and-you’ll-miss-them cameos. It’s unknown yet if they will be playable characters or just flashback fodder, but if they are bothering to make up character models for them I wouldn’t be surprised if they make it into the game proper.
Aside from that we’ve got the oldMK 3-style Sub-Zero, a maskless Scorpion fighting a baby Scorpion (?), some cowboy looking dude who seems to be chilling with the Special Forces group, and everyone’s favorite purple ninja, Rain!
For less than two minutes of footage, that’s a lot of reveals! I’ve already watched it five or six times, but I bet I’ve still missed one or two things. Can you spot anyone else?
