Regina Kingwas overjoyed as she watched her name get put on her Academy Award following her big win on Sunday.
The 48-year-old actress, whopicked up the award for Best Supporting Actressfor her role inIf Beale Street Could Talk, seemed happy as could be as she watched her own personalized plaque get attached to her statuette.

Asked whether she knew her performance would earn her such acclaim while still on set, the actress replied that at the time she had no idea.
“Not at all,” she shared, before adding that she was aware “that we were doing something really special.”

During a particularly emotional point in the speech, the actress began to cry while thanking her mother, Gloria King, whom she sweetly brought as her date to the award show.
“Mom, I love you so much. Thank you for teaching me that God is always leaning, always has been leaning in my direction,” the star said.

When her name was first announced as the winner, the crowd rose to their feet as King prepared to make her way to the stage — but as soon as she went to take her first step, the actress’ heels got tangled in her dress, causing her to momentarily pause and regain her footing.
Luckily,Chris Evans— who was also sitting in the front row next to King’s mother Gloria —came to her rescueand offered his arm to graciously help her up the stairs.
